Dear Friends of McBear - there's a lot of disappointment in our households this weekend, as sadly the attempt on Sunday to set a new record for the world's biggest-ever teddy bears' picnic has had to be cancelled. Eastnor Castle, where it was to be held, is in the part of the country which has been devastated by flooding, so it just wasn't possible for it to go ahead.
Jo is very sad, as she was so looking forward to it all, and to meeting some of the people who have been emailing me. And, of course, her little old Rupert bear is really upset not to be making the trip to Ledbury.
However, everyone in both my hug and Jo's agree that a little bit of disappointment is nothing compared with the awful misery that people in that area have been going through, and we just hope that it won't be too long before they can have clean drinking water again, and return to their homes. It must be an absolute nightmare situation for them.
We also hope that no bear artists or collectors have been affected. If any of you have, then we are beaming lots and lots of hugs in your direction.
If you are looking at my website this weekend, you will see that there is a new section - You and Your Teddy Bear. This is especially for collectors to send in stories about their special teddies - we're just waiting to hear from you! You will be really touched to read about a gorgeous little bear called Oliver - that is such a sweet tale which certainly touched my heart and demonstrates how important a part bears play in people's lives.
There's another new section as well, all about Truffle, who is a frequent traveller and will be a regular contributor, telling us of his travels.
Don't forget, if you want to respond to any of my blogs, you need to log in (see top right-hand corner of my site), so please don't forget your password.
Look forward to hearing from you again
Hugs from McBear
